On February 14, 2007, Martha Schoenborn was leaving work at the Federal Trade Commission, crossing 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C., when a Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority bus violently struck and killed her in the middle of the crosswalk.
